The Isle of Wight Pilot Adventure is our most exclusive microlight experience, designed for those who want more than a flight. This is a genuine cross-country aviation journey, combining breathtaking scenery, relaxed hands-on guidance, and the rare thrill of flying across the sea to one of the UK’s most iconic island destinations.

From the moment you arrive at Yatesbury Airfield, you’ll be welcomed into a calm, professional flying environment. Your experience begins with an unhurried pre-flight briefing, where you’ll be introduced to how pilots plan and fly real journeys. You’ll then depart in a modern two-seat microlight, flying side-by-side with an experienced instructor who will guide you throughout the day.

You’ll receive personal instruction in the Ikarus C42 — the world’s most widely used microlight training aircraft, gaining insight into how it flies, how pilots navigate, and what makes this aircraft such a favourite for learning and touring.

After crossing the coastline and flying out over the water, you’ll land at either Sandown or Bembridge Airfield, depending on conditions. On the island, you’ll have time to walk around the airfield, soak up the unique atmosphere of island flying, and enjoy a relaxed lunch before returning to Yatesbury.

The entire experience takes approximately four hours, allowing plenty of time to enjoy every part of the journey without feeling rushed — from arrival at the airfield to returning home with a new perspective on flying.

Good to know:
Minimum age is 15. Please allow minimum of 4 hours for the full experience. Maximum weight 90kg per flyer. Flights are weather dependent and will be confirmed the evening before.
